Network backup

OSMB Service can archive information stored on any computer networked with the one running the service software. Information can be recovered to the original computer, another computer on the network or to a new computer supplied with the backup software, username, password and encryption key.

It may be possible to backup computers running other operating systems, call SciTech Computers for details.

Multiple server backup

Multiple servers can be backed up most efficiently by creating a separate account for each server. There will be a single invoice each month for the full requirement. There is no extra charge for structuring the service this way.

Complex backup

OSMB Service is designed to manage a complex requirement from a single point. Multiple offices, field laptops or a combination can be managed easily. There is no additional fee for creating and managing as many sub accounts as needed.

Most off site backup services offer encrypted transmission of data but the service includes a range of features designed to ensure the accuracy of your archives, high security data centres and an ongoing program to provide the most recent innovations in Internet security.

Transmission Security

• Account creation strictly monitored.  To prevent backdoor access accounts.

• 256-bit military grade encryption.  The same standard approved for internal use by the US federal government. Your data is only transmitted off site after it has been encrypted. 

• Individual encryption keys.  Each client creates their own encryption key thereby assuring they are the only ones to have access to their data. 

• Confirmation facility.  Guarantees the successful backup of each file. If for any reason a file cannot be secured it is listed in the failed area on the client services portion of the web site. Incomplete backup transmissions set off a flashing warning icon in the computer system tray. 

• Weekly synchronisation.  Assures accurate archives regardless of other conditions.

How does off-site backup work?

Initial Full Backup

The first step is to secure all the important information currently stored on your computers. Off-Site Backup compresses then encrypts your selected files before transmitting them via your Internet connection to our mirrored disk servers.

If your initial backup cannot be accommodated by your Internet connection contact the SciTech Computers office to ask about Engineer Assisted Upload Services.

Incremental Backup

After the full backup OSMB will scan the designated directories on your computers for new and changed files. These will be transmitted to the data centre to guard against future need.

Restoring Information

Should you need a single file or the information from an entire computer, your data is just a few mouse clicks away.

You can download a directory of what is stored on the archive server, then pick and choose what to restore locally. Alternatively, you can search for specific files for local restoration.

To download information to a new computer, supply it with the OSMB Software, your username, password and encryption key. Then you will have access to all the information you need to keep your business running, no matter what has happened.

Start securing your data today

Start a OSMB account today and start enjoying high quality security and proactive support.

Setting up your OSMB account is simple and there are no setup charges.  If you need more than one account they can be linked for efficient billing.

Step 1  Download the OSMB software and install it onto your computer. 

Step 2  Register for the service after installation, click on the 'lock' icon on your desktop to run the software. Fill in the registration form with the unlock code 762293-805. Then select the top level of service for your account.

Step 3  Start backing up your critical information after you receive an email confirmation of your archive you will be ready to start backing up your critical information.

Service trial  If for any reason it does not meet your needs you can cancel the service within 30 days and you will not be invoiced.

Linked Accounts for efficient billing  Contact support with all account names, including all links to the master account.

Cancelling a OSMB Account  Send an email to support@scitechcomputers.com from the address that initiated the account or contact the dealer where you purchased the service. Include your user name and reason for cancellation. 

You must receive a cancellation confirmation to end the account. Contact support if no confirmation is received. If you are within the first 30 days of service you will not receive a charge for the service. Telephone instructions ARE NOT ACCEPTED TO TERMINATE SERVICE.
